| Atlantic Bedding and Furniture offers an internship program that is unlike any other program out there. While most internships come from large corporations, we offer a unique opportunity to our interns in learning how to run and manage a small business without all the financial commitment. Our interns experience job flexibility with their class schedules as well as the opportunity to join our team full time once they graduate. Many of our current owners began working with Atlantic Bedding as undergrads before owning their own stores. Below are some learning objectives and a position description that goes into specifics about job duties and responsibilities: Learning Objectives: Our program is designed to show the hardships and rewards of owning your own business without the commitment. Most people in our company can perform anyone else’s job and several people have moved on to owning their own stores/businesses. You will learn all aspects of running your own business in a “hands on” manner. You will come to understand advertising, networking, negotiating, ordering products, servicing customers, and many other exciting facets involved with ownership and responsibility. Responsibilities: Interns are expected to perform all duties required of regular sales person. Our sales people are expected to generate customers through various marketing techniques, meet with customers to carry out sales, and follow up with any post-sale issues that may arrise. If a customer decides to make a purchase using financing or layaway, our sales people are expected to assist customers with all paperwork and forward it to the appropriate agency. They are also expected to pull orders from the warehouse and load it into the customer's vehicle when applicable. If delivery is desired, our sales people are responsible for schduling delivery in a timely manner. Our sales people are also expected to assist in rearranging the sales floor as new products come in to keep the work environment clean and presentable. Depending on the location and time of year, other positions for internships may be available that do not include marketing and sales. Qualifications/knowledge/skills desired: We strongly desire people that are used to working in a team setting. Many of the people that have worked with us in the past have played team sports or are used to working closely with others. We need people that are self-starters and can communicate very well. They should be comfortable in dealing with people and cannot be shy. We need our sales people to be familiar with computers and the internet. We need people that understand hard work pays off and are willing to get their hands dirty to get the job done! |
